April 6–maple flowers

The trees haven’t quite begun leafing out yet, although the leafy time is getting close.  Looking into the woods, there is a definite reddish tint to the landscape, almost a bit like fall colors, but more subtle.  Looking closer, it is the maple trees that give the reddish tint, with their small but extremely numerous flowers.  Not quite the showy blossoms of the fruit trees, but in this one particular week of the year, they are by far the most common flower around.
