April 13- filling in the gaps

Just a short one today, as it wound up being quite the full day without much opportunity for wandering & observing.  We’ve finally returned to reasonable mid-April weather, a bit nippy in the morning and pleasant during the day–nice to have a bit of springtime squeezed between the weather extremes!

The maple trees have been leafing out for a few days now, but I noticed this morning that the oaks are starting to get into it as well.  I guess this is why they call this type a “red oak.”Imagel

Spent much of the day driving around Louisa doing chores and hunting down yard sales.  On this country lane, I kept thinking about how pretty all the trees looked surrounded by a green haze of tiny little newly-opened leaves.Image

And back at Twin Oaks, the forests have that springtime look, exactly halfway between winter gray and summer green.Image
